Congrats to Jay Fenstermacher, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Fenstermacher, for his perfect shot over the Steinhart park lakes and into the cup on No. 5 green. The par three shot of 175 yards was made in one swing by Jay with a No. 3 iron for a total game score of 39 strokes, four over par. Milt Romjue was a tee witness.
Talked with a man from Kearney the other day in Hastings during the Jaycee convention about schools. He said the Kearney new high school bond issue was put up for a vote four times before the voters gave the O.K. Kearney built its new school on the edge of town and offered bus service it didn't offer "downtown." By the way, Hastings' new school is also on the edge of town.
